“What is truth?”

After young Ramana, my master’s guru, had remained silent for several years, after he had withdrawn into the deepest depths of his Self, he wrote the answer to the question “What is truth?” in the sand with a stick. The answer began with the words: “Since all people desire to be happy…”

Everyone wants to be happy

Even in the times of my greatest arrogance I knew that I wanted peace,

wanted freedom, wanted to be happy.

Everyone wants to be happy.

This love

This love is also shaped by yet another phenomenon corresponding to a feature of metaphysics known as the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. Since the state of human love is by nature indeterminate, it cannot be measured. The more precisely one tries to determine a state—for example the intensity of an attraction—the more imprecise and vague another state becomes—one’s degree of freedom, for example.

Freedom

If this clarity and this joy are not part of your daily life, you are either a slave to the past or a victim of the future. A victim of something that has not yet come to pass. No one has to be a slave or a victim. And why not? Because your true nature is freedom.
