Sommerlust – this is such a fitting name for this retreat full of love for life and delight in the heart of summer! I am participating this blessing retreat with Madhukarji since 3 years. The Bio-Hotel Florian is trustfully snuggling into the Austrian mountains, and it is wonderful to wake up in the morning with the view to the Wilder Kaiser mountain, to breath the clear fresh air and to shine and sparkle just like the pearls of dew in the rich green pastures. From my balcony I can smell the scent of homemade bread: breakfast is calling! The chef de cuisine is lovingly preparing our delicious whole-food, and he himself loves to come to Satsang whenever he has time. No wonder the food tastes great!
But now it is time for Satsang in the bright large room which is nicely decorated with beautiful flowers. It is the most precious thing to be with the Master and the Sangha in silence, love and joy! Sometimes it is very humorous, another time there are lots of questions and answers, or we just simply are in silent presence.
In the afternoon the question arises: a 40 minutes walk to the Gieringer Weiher, which is a little moss lake in the middle of the forest with golden water that shines on the skin, or to go for an excursion to the nearby world famous village of Kitzbühel? Having an espresso there in the picturesque pedestrian zone… or going on a hiking tour to the Fleckalm and swinging back to the valley on the ropeway? It is good that the retreat lasts 7 days.
Evening Satsang was great! One participant had his guitar with him and we sung songs and mantras together.
While I am looking into the starlit night, not able to sleep yet – full of pulsating happiness, it is crystal clear:
Oneness is natural!

Use the opportunity to apply for a scholarship:
Young people can apply for a sholarship by sending a photo and a letter of motivation.
Scholarship means that one can visit a retreat and does not have to pay the retreat price. Board and lodging are not included in this and have to be paid on one’s own account.
Madhukar personally decides who is receiving this scholarship. Madhukar set the age limit for the scholarship at 27.

Report from the retreat Sommerlust 2008:

The retreat Sommerlust took place in Reith near Kitzbühel in Austria, July 30 until August 10, 2008, in the Biohotel Florian. About 30 people joined in, participating this very special retreat.

Satsang with Sri Madhukar was twice a day. Blessing Satsangs in the presence of the Master. In his clarity, his goodness and his love. Satsangs in silence and peace, with dialogues, music, dance and laughter.

The Satsang room was located in a house next to the main building of the hotel, where it was quiet and silent. A big Satsang room, with view to the meadows and woods, always lovingly decorated with beautiful fresh flowers.

The participants who stayed in rooms towards the mountain side in the main building had a breathtaking view over the huge rocks of the Wild Kaiser. And in a separate house, only a couple of meters distance from there, Krishna played his flute for the 10 women sleeping in the dormitory. In the mornings, very softly and gently, beautiful mantra singing sounded there (from the group of Shiva-Yoga people, who where staying there at the same time).

The meals were of excellent fresh vegetarian food, starting with a breakfast buffet of an amazing wide variety of offerings, and ending with delicious dessert at dinner.
The hotel has a very cozy, rustic styled dining room. Long time after the staff had gone to bed the retreat participants still sat together there, enjoying delicious wine, talking and laughing together, often until late in the night.

For having the meals everybody sat outside on the terrace, enjoying the view over the forests and mountains. Sitting there in the mornings, having a cup of coffee and watching the fog arising from the valley was a wonderful start into the day. Or walking up the hill, in the early morning before breakfast, up to this place with that gorgeous sunrise view over the Wild Kaiser. And meeting Wawi there, just like meeting her two years ago at the same time of the day up on Shivapuri in Nepal, during the retreat Buddhas Grace. And pointing to the Wild Kaiser she saying: This is little Himalayas for me!

Mostly, after morning Satsang, the Master had lunch together with the sangha: big joy of the heart, brightly shining happiness!

The second Satsang of the day took place in the afternoon and sometimes also in the evening. So there was enough time for going swimming in the lakes which are near to the retreat place, going on excursions in the surroundings or visiting the world famous village of Kitzbühel, only 10 minutes driving distance from Reith. Kitzbühel is very attractive also at nighttime, it has nice bars playing good music, inviting for dancing and celebrating.
During the time of the retreat was a big festival in Kitzbühel, and many of the retreat participants went there. The center of the village was closed for traffic, and everywhere on the streets was music and dancing all night long.

One of the highlights of the retreat was the hiking tour with the Master up to the Kälberalm. Taking gondolas up the mountain, having coffee together at the summit station before the tour started, and then hiking through the woods towards the mountain top, with the Master leading the way. Hiking in great nature, narrow trails through the forest and wider paths further up, walking through magnificent mountain landscapes. Arriving the top, everybody took rest sitting on the terrace of the Kälberalm, a tavern that served beverages and food. Being with the beloved Master and the beautiful people of the sangha on top of the mountain in clear brightly shining sunshine amidst a gorgeous mountain world, drinking refreshing wheat beer, having a delicious meal with cheese and bread, singing and dancing to the music the tavern people were playing – perfect happiness!

One evening everybody went to have a big party together in a nearby restaurant. Good music, dancing and celebration! Glowing joy of the heart because the Master was present also! Celebrating with the wonderful people of the sangha. What a blessing!

Being with the Master, being in Satsang, being with the sangha, participating this very blissful retreat – what a blessing!

Although it was my mind which was leading me to you, it is now my heart which makes me stay. A lot of changes happened to me in the Kitzbühel retreat. Grace and love became perceptible. I am still deeply touched and very thankful.
